Unhindered, the day broke free

In the garden. The sun itself was

Unable to resist the noon’s refraction.

It left all the violent storms

In its corona and entered the glass

Without compunction.

The window could never shut

Its eyes as the sun had its way,

The shadows scant and miserable.

When it touched the velvety

Petals, they blushed without shame,

The hairy leaves basked

In the unrestrained brightness,

Ignored its shattering

Into glistening smithereens.
